All of my blades are hand forged by me using the ancient method of forge, fire, hammer and anvil. Many specious claims have been made about special qualities imparted to modern steel by forging, but the reason I insist on forging is two-fold. One- it is the way blades were made for thousands of years with a noble heritage worth preserving, and two- the personal interaction with the material under highly skilled heating techniques does give the smith an advantage from a more in-depth relationship with his medium. But in the end it is also the method that is the most fun and exciting to shape a blade with.
